What makes a line medical-grade

Higher active concentrations, better-stabilised formulations, and delivery systems that get ingredients where they need to go. Retinol at 0.25% in a drugstore serum and prescription-strength tretinoin are not the same intervention.

ZO Skin Health was developed by dermatologist Zein Obagi and is generally the more corrective of the two. SkinCeuticals is strongest in antioxidants and protection, and its vitamin C formulations are among the best-researched available.

Why we carry two lines

Because no single line is right for every skin. Carrying one and recommending it to everyone is a retail decision, not a clinical one.

We frequently tell people to keep using something they already own rather than replace it. If your routine is working, the honest advice is to leave it alone.

If your routine is working, the honest advice is to leave it alone.

Your routine matters more than your treatments

What you apply daily influences your skin more than what happens in a treatment room every six weeks. In-office work accelerates and corrects; the routine maintains and prevents.

Sunscreen is the single highest-return product either line sells, and in South Texas that is not a close contest.

How we approach it

We start with the smallest routine that will do the job — usually a cleanser, one active, a moisturiser, and sunscreen. Adding six products at once means you cannot tell which one caused a reaction.

We review it every few months and adjust. Skin changes with season, age, and treatment, and a routine that worked last winter may not suit this August.

Common questions

Professional skincare, answered plainly.

Which line is better, ZO or SkinCeuticals?

Neither, in general. ZO tends to be more corrective, SkinCeuticals stronger on antioxidants and protection. Which suits you depends on your skin and your goal.

Do I have to buy products to be treated here?

No. We recommend what will help and will tell you when what you already own is fine.

Can I buy these online instead?

You can, but counterfeit medical-grade skincare is a genuine problem on third-party marketplaces. Buy from an authorised provider, here or elsewhere.

How long before I see a difference?

Six to twelve weeks for most actives. Pigment and texture take a full skin cycle or more.

Can I use these with in-office treatments?

Yes, with timing adjustments. Retinoids and acids usually pause for several days around peels, microneedling, and laser.
